I think “Whip It” is genius and their cover of “Satisfaction” by the Stones is way better than I ever realized. I’m talking about Devo. There’s one other song of theirs that I’m aware of, “Girl U Want” that I like. They were never my cup of tea when they were current but that little quirky band from Ohio really grew on me over the decades and with each listen I acquire a finer appreciation for the calculating and ingenious way they made themselves stand apart from the rest of the New Wave genre.
Devo are helping fans whip the coronavirus by selling their own branded face masks. They’ve also upgraded their legendary red circular Energy Dome helmets by adding a detachable face shield. Well, it’s about time!!!
