Every now and then you see posts online with pictures of a beautiful ocean home or cabin in the woods that begs the question, “Could you live here for free for one year but no cell phone”. My answer is always a quick and resounding, “*@!*K Yes!” It would be a piece of cake for me.
It all started with my trademarked, “Franzman’s Facebook-Free Friday” which quickly turned into Facebook-free weekend whereby abstaining from ANY and all Facebook and Facebook-like things.
It’s amazing to me that I never miss it one bit. I think it’s imperative to unplug routinely. I have been leaving my cell phone home when I know my wife has one and I’m going be in a densely populated location. Think about it: If you’re my age, you had one phone and it was on the wall in the kitchen and if ya needed to make a call, you needed a dime and a payphone. I never had any problem with that set up. Try NOT being so connected once in a while. It’s good for you. Really, really good for you.
If ya need to reach me before Monday, call my wife. She’s always on her phone.
