-Voice for Companion Animals holding Clear the Shelter Event
Voice for Companion Animals will be participating in the 5th Annual Clear the Shelter event on Saturday, August 17th, at 524 South Webb Road in Grand Island. Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with several pets available for adoption.
Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption initiative that brings shelters, rescue groups, and adopters together to find loving homes for pets in need.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the public and potential adopters to see the cats we have available for adoption, as well as introduce them to Voice for Companion Animals and our volunteers. We have several fully vetted and healthy cats waiting for new homes, and this is such a fun event for us as we get to see so many supporters, have fun, and hopefully see some of our feline friends find new homes,” said Robyn Mays, president of Voice for Companion Animals. “This event will also be an opportunity for us to talk about animal welfare in our area, as well the main mission of Voice for Companion Animals to keep pets at home with their senior and veteran owners,” she said.
Dog and cat treats will be available during the event, and a coupon booklet donated by the local PetSense store will be given with each pet adoption.
Voice for Companion Animals started in Grand Island in 2014, and is an all-volunteer nonprofit serving Central Nebraska. VCA provides pet food and supplies at no charge each month to seniors and veterans in Hall and Adams counties. They also assist in keeping pet food available at the Grand Island Salvation Army and the Howard-Greeley County Food Pantry. VCA assists other agencies in crisis situations, including providing services to companion animals during the recent floods in Nebraska.
