AXTELL, Neb. – The following is from the America’s Farmers Grow Communities Program:
“Axtell Community Schools was just awarded a $25,000 grant to enhance its science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum through America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Bayer Fund.
Axtell Community Schools will use the Grow Rural Education funds to construct and operate a greenhouse for ag classes, FFA and SAE projects. The greenhouse will benefit all students with hands on lessons in their classes. The school will also see impact through FFA plant sales and through the harvested fruits and vegetables that will be used within the lunch program.
In addition, from August 1 to November 1, farmers in Nebraska will have the chance to direct $2,500 to their favorite local nonprofit organization through the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program.
