KEARNEY, Neb. – The following is from the City of Kearney:
“The City of Kearney would like to provide a brief update in regards to yesterday’s flooding in the community.
There are zero safety concerns in regards to drinking water, it may be consumed. We do ask that you stay out of flooded water as this water is highly contaminated and unsafe.
As residents return to their homes and businesses to access damage and begin clean up, please take photos and document damage BEFORE you begin cleanup. This information will be used to submit to FEMA for assistance. You can submit your information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
City Staff is evaluating potential dumpster locations to assist residents with the disposal of flood damaged items. Please place your items at the curb for City pick-up.
The Peterson Senior Activity Center will re-open today. South Yanney Heritage Park will remain closed due to water levels.
Trails are closed from Yanney Park – Fort Kearny as they are unsafe due to water.
The Kearney Public Library basement will remain closed today and is expected to re-open tomorrow.”
