KEARNEY, Neb. – The following is from the Kearney Parks and Recreation Department:
“The Kearney Park and Recreation Department will be opening the splash pads at Yanney Heritage Park, Nina Hammer Park, East Brooke Park and Dryden Park on Friday, May 24 for the 2019 season. The splash pad hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., through mid-September.
The water features can be activated by putting a hand over the activator at Yanney Park, or by pressing the button located by the enter drain at the splash pads at Nina Hammer Park, East Brooke and Dryden Park. Patrons are asked to adhere to all safety precautions listed on the splash pad signs.
The Marina’s at Cottonmill and Yanney Park will open on Saturday, May 25 at 12:00 p.m. The Marina’s offer paddle boat, kayak, canoes, and water bikes with ice cream, soft drinks, snacks, and candy available for park visitors. Paddle Board rental will again be offered at Yanney Marina only. Paddle Boards/Boats/water bike rentals are $5.00 per half hour and require a driver’s license.
The hours at both Marinas are Tuesday thru Thursday, 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., and Friday thru Sunday, from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The Rotary Nature Barn at Cottonmill Park will open for the season on Saturday, May 25, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The barn is open Tuesday thru Sunday until mid-August.”
