I’ve seen NASCAR on television my whole life but I never knew how HUGE an event it is until I attended this past weekend. A truly festive and friendly environment, a pre-race concert by The Gin Blossoms and more food to choose from than some small cities offer made for a really unique experience for me and my wife.
I highly recommend that everyone experience The Kansas Motor Speedway at least once. You don’t have to be a racing enthusiast to appreciate the venue, the skyline, the machines screaming at 200 mph, the food and the friendly people! Oh by the way, there’s about 100,000 of them. Who knew? Not me! I had no idea this attracted crowds of this magnitude! I believe the speedway’s capacity is 150,000.
Oh, and it’s LOUD. Screaming LOUD! Bring earplugs or buy hearing protection at the venue. Prices run from 3 dollars to 21 dollars depending on what you want. (Get the good ones). About 35 of us took a bus trip booked by Gannon Travel. You might want to look into that. We had a good time.
Go to a race, you’ll be glad you did.
